Competency 7:
Apply Instructional Design Principles
EDCI/672 Primary Advanced
Design
Lynn Dixon Case Analysis
Sub-Competency 7 (7SC1): Identifies and analyzes learning and performance problems
I have demonstrated that I can identify and analyze learning and performance problems with the Lynn Dixon Case Analysis. The learning problem in Lynn Dixon’s case was designing a module for a wide audience. The performance problem in Lynn Dixon’s case was a lack of experience designing for a touch screen. The Lynn Dixon Case Analysis gave me the opportunity to use and improve my analysis skills. I have used my analysis skills with each of my projects, and I will continue with my future projects as well.
EDCI/566 Primary Education Applications of Multimedia
Digital Storytelling
Sub-Competency 7 (7SC2): Design, plans, and develops instructional interventions using appropriate strategies and techniques
I have demonstrated that I can design, plan, and develop instructional interventions using appropriate strategies and techniques. My Digital Storytelling project showcases my skills with designing and developing a module to be used as an introduction for a larger Science unit. I chose to utilize the Modality, Signaling, and Temporal Principles. The Principles used reinforced the concepts being taught. Students will read, hear, and view images that will provide a complete concept, whereas separately the concept will be incomprehensible. My goal is to continue utilizing appropriate principles, instructional interventions, strategies, and techniques when designing and developing learning materials and modules.
EDCI/577 Strategic Assessment
and evaluation
Evaluation Plan
Sub-Competency 7 (7SC3): Develops an evaluation plan for a project based on stated goals and recognized standards
I have demonstrated that I can develop an evaluation plan for a project that is based on stated goals and is recognized standards. Ana Rosa Sanchez and I worked together to create an evaluation plan for Alere Inc. which is a global manufacturer of rapid point-of-care diagnostic tests. The evaluation plan focused on key findings, identifying the goals and scope, and provided a recommendation. To evaluate the HIV Combo program, we utilized Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of evaluation model. I learned how to develop an evaluation plan, and I will use this skill for future projects. My goal is to use and improve this skill by attending workshops, seminars, and by working in teams.
